Ric Abel: Welcome to the studio - Spud Lane Studio in Robertson. Tonight we've got a special guest, Cat Doyle. And she's all the way from Durham, England. She's been here for some 20 years. Did her education in Wales at Swansea University. At a very young age, she did a lot of work for the European Space Agency.
Traveling from England and coming to Australia back some 20 odd years, What did you expect when you came to Australia?
Cat Doyle: I really thought it was going to be completely flat. Growing up in England, you've got this idea that Australia is this far off country with kangaroos, koalas, all the cliches, right? But I really thought that the whole country was going to be really flat. And when I got here, I was really surprised to find there was actually hills and even mountains.
And I remember when I first arrived actually probably in my first week here, I had a dream and I dreamt that there was a big kangaroo outside the Town Hall in the middle of Sydney and it was just like, you know, standing there greeting all the people who were coming past. So it was a pretty cliched kind of view of Australia.
Ric Abel: So the reason I'm interviewing tonight is you've got a wonderful new app. It's a new area for you to develop and it seems exciting. So tell me about your app.
Cat Doyle: Yep. I'm making my first mobile app. So, it's a lead tracker for people who work for themselves in solo businesses. So, they're not sales people, but they need to do sales as part of getting in work. And so, it's just designed to be really easy, and simple.
It uses voice as the data entry. A lot of people will try and use spreadsheets but they don't keep them up to date.
So it's designed to be really easy for people to actually put their data in, and then it's got a really simple pipeline inside. It reminds them when it's time to follow up, and then they can make more sales because they're actually being in touch with people when they said they would.
Ric Abel: And so when does it come out?
Cat Doyle: It's going to come out in July - probably more towards the end of July, but people can hop on the wait list now.
